Jennifer Thomas is the recipient of the 2012 Ellen Berne Pathfinder Award given annually by the Massachusetts School Library Association for her amazing library website created using LibGuides! We are delighted that Jennifer had offered to share her site with the Best Ofs! She is currently the School Library Media Specialist at Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School.
Here is our interview with Jennifer.
How long have you been making LibGuides? Since April 2009 (I think)
How long have you been a librarian? Since May 2005, and a school librarian since 2007
Where do you look to find LibGuide inspiration? SO many of the sites in the community (both school AND academic libraries)....too many to name! The community is a great resource!
What are some tips you would like to share with others who might be copying your guide? What I am most passionate about which is improving information literacy for all grades, especially 9-12. I published an article about this very topic which can be viewed here.
What is your favorite thing about LibGuides? It's ease of access and use, it's ability to support and enhance students' information literacy skills, the customer support, the community, the aesthetics (how it's not hard to make a site that looks REALLY good), as a replacement for (which certainly surpasses) the old school pathfinders...everything is at the user's fingertips.
When using Jennifer's guides, please credit her as Jennifer Thomas, Bishop Stang High School.
